2010 EPA IAQ Tools for Schools Symposium
and NEA HIN Pre-Symposium

10th Annual EPA Indoor Air Quality TfS Symposium and
7th Annual NEA HIN Pre-Symposium
January 13-16, 2010 ~ Washington, DC

We are no longer accepting applications to attend the 2010 NEA HIN Pre-Symposium and EPA IAQ TfS Symposium

NEA HIN is no longer accepting applications for the competitive grant application process. Go to http://neahin.org/iaqsymposium2010/registration.html to learn how you can register to attend.

Through a 2009 RA NBI (#6) and a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the NEA Health Information Network (NEA HIN) will provide funding to send up to 8-11 teams of NEA members and UniServ staff to the 10th annual EPA Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools (IAQ TfS) National Symposium and 7th annual NEA HIN Pre-Symposium. This year the IAQ TfS Symposium and Pre-Symposium will be held January 13-16th, 2010, in Washington, D.C.

The Pre-Symposium, held the day before the IAQ TfS Symposium begins, will focus on how to organize around the issue of poor IAQ as a local affiliate. Topics such as forming health and safety committees, conducting school walkthroughs, administering health and hazard surveys, building coalitions and how to deal with a difficult or unsupportive administration will be discussed. This day will be followed by EPA’s IAQ TfS Symposium, January 14-16th, which centers on IAQ TfS, a nationwide initiative to help school officials assess, resolve, and prevent IAQ problems and reduce exposure to asthma triggers in school facilities.

Each year teachers, ESP, UniServ staff, school board members, parents, facilities managers, principals, superintendents and others attend to discuss improving indoor air quality in our nation’s schools. Innovative sessions will be offered on conducting asthma in schools, high performance schools, mold, radon, and more. In addition, EPA will present this year’s IAQ TfS Excellence and Sustained Model of Excellence Awards to honor qualifying schools for exemplary IAQ programs.

  • Apply for funding to attend through the competitive grant application process! (NEA members and State Affiliate staff only)
