NEA
HIN is now accepting applications for the
8th Annual
IAQ Tools for Schools Symposium and the
fifth Annual
NEA HIN Pre-Symposium Training
Through a 2007 RA NBI (#10) and a cooperative
agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
the NEA Health
Information Network (NEA HIN) will provide funding to send
up to 12-15 teams of NEA members and UniServ staff to the 8th
annual EPA Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Tools for Schools (TfS)
National Symposium and 5th annual NEA HIN Pre-Symposium training.
This year the IAQ TfS Symposium and Pre-Symposium training
will be held December 5-8th in Washington, D.C.
NEA HIN will again conduct a Pre-Symposium training on December
5th to address IAQ issues from the union/association perspective,
including how to deal with a difficult or unsupportive administration.
This day will be followed by EPA’s IAQ TfS Symposium,
December 6-8th, which centers on IAQ TfS, a nationwide initiative
to help school officials assess, resolve, and prevent IAQ problems
and reduce exposure to asthma triggers in school facilities.
Each year NEA members and staff including teachers, ESP, and
UniServ representatives join school board officials, administrators,
parents, nurses, facility managers and others at the conference
to discuss improving the IAQ in our nation’s schools.
Innovative workshops will be offered on conducting school walkthroughs,
mold remediation, green cleaning, asthma friendly schools,
radon, and more.
