Eric R Brown

Member, NEA Board of Directors (Illinois)

Eric R. Brown is a biology teacher at Evanston Township High School in Evanston, IL.  While there he has gotten involved in addressing many issues of academic and social importance.  He has worked to decrease the achievement gap between students of color and white students.  He also volunteered to be the faculty advisor of his school’s Gay Straight Alliance to raise school awareness about the concerns of LGBT students and their families; especially as it relates to academic achievement in school.  He currently sits on the board of directors for the National Education Association and the Illinois Education Association.

Eric has a bachelor’s in biological sciences and a master’s in education from Northwestern University.

Eric stays healthy through regular exercise, which includes weights and cardiovascular activity.  He believes in destressing frequently, and knows that mental health is as important as physical health.
