Miecha Galbraith

Curriculum and Professional Development Consultant

Galbraith is an educator and currently works as a consultant for the NEA Health Information Network (NEA HIN), where she provides assistance on a variety of curriculum and professional development related projects. Her contributions to indoor environmental quality (IEQ) through the NEA HIN include a series lesson plans and activities that supplem ent the U.S. EPA’s IAQ Tools for Schools program.

Previously, Mrs. Galbraith worked for the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she served as a Project Facilitator for the K-12 Teacher Development, in the Curriculum and Professional Development Division. Her primary focus was designing and delivering professional development for K-12 teachers for a variety of topics including effective instruction and classroom management. She has worked directly with firs t-year teachers as a mentor and trainer. She provided weekly orientations to newly hired substitute teachers. Her role also included designing and delivering workshops for other trainers on topics such as professional development design and presentation and facilitation skills.

While working with the Clark County School District, she also served as an elementary school teacher; learning strategist; a New Teacher Training cadre member, an Accelerated Schools (school reform movement) coach; a Teacher-on-Special Assignment for the Human Resources Department; and a School Curriculum Cadre member.

Mrs. Galbraith has also served as an instructor and program consultant at Nova Southeastern University, Community College of Southern Nevada, and Sierra Nevada College of Teacher Education. She has also presented at several national conferences and workshops.

Mrs. Galbraith received her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with a minor in special education from Slippery Rock University in August 1996. She received her Master of Science degree in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University in December 1998. She also helped the SRU Department of Education develop the Las Vegas summer student teaching program which has been in existence for more than 12 years.

In 2007, Mrs. Galbraith was the Young Alumni Award recipient for the College of Education at Slippery Rock University.
