Arthritis Kits

Arthritis is the leading cause of disability for nearly 19 million adults in the United States.   Through a process of self-management, people with arthritis can decrease pain, improve functioning, stay productive, and lower health care costs.   If you have arthritis, you may be eligible to receive a free or discounted copy of The Arthritis Self-Management Kit.

Each kit contains these resources:

  • The Arthritis Helpbook by Kate Lorig and James Fries, leading experts on self-management of pain
  • Information Sheets briefly describing common problems and helpful solutions for sufferers of arthritis
  • Self-Test that helps individuals identify the elements of and set priorities for a personal pain self-management plan
  • Action Plan description with instruction and examples for developing your own unique plan
  • Exercise Action Plan with hints and instruction on the use of other exercise and activity materials
  • Relaxation CD and Exercise CDs
  • All in one self-contained kit to which the individual can add his/her own materials

The Kit retails for $43.96

NEA HIN is distributing 250 of these kits (50 free, 200 at a fifty percent discount) on a first-come first served basis.  In exchange, you will be asked to complete two short web-based surveys about your experience using the kit.  If you are interested, please click here for an application.  Applications will be accepted until all the kits have been distributed.  Return your completed application or send any questions to [email protected]

This project is made possible through a partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Arthritis Program and the Directors of Health Promotion.
