Healthy Gift Ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week
Topics: Healthy Snacks & Beverages
Teacher are more than just educators – not only do they help students explore new concepts, they foster personal growth and wellness in their students. Teachers are important role models and advocates for children and teens.
That’s why we’re taking a moment to celebrate educators during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4-10, 2014. We’ve put together some great ways to thank your favorite teacher – ideas that don’t involve candy or unhealthy foods!
A Heartfelt Note
You don’t need to buy anything to make your favorite teacher feel appreciated. Take a moment to let your educator know the impact that she or he makes in your life (or your child’s life).
Tea for a Tea-rrific Teacher
Teachers put in long hours at school and after hours grading or preparing lesson plans. The act of preparing and sipping tea can be a great stress reliever, and tea is brimming with anti-oxidants.
You can simply put a small gift note on a box of tea, or add some tea bags to a mason jar, which can easily be reused for all kinds of teacher-related needs.
Tea makes a great gift – and it avoids concerns about allergy or dietary restrictions that may come with food gifts according to National Education Association President Dennis Van Roekel.
Magazine Subscriptions
Another great idea for teachers? Magazine subscriptions!
According to NEA President Van Roekel:
“Teachers love to learn, too!” says Van Roekel. Subscriptions to educational mags like National Geographic help teachers and pupils. “Research shows that whether teachers read for personal fulfillment or professional inspiration, their reading informs their instruction.”
