Sugar-Free Valentine’s Day Treats

Sugar-Free Valentine’s Day Treats

Posted by Bag The Junk on February 7, 2014

Lisa and Jenn from Bag the Junk decided to drop by a nearby cafeteria to come up with some adorably healthy Valentine’s Day themed treats that are easy to serve in a school classroom or cafeteria.

What makes these treats easy to create is a heart-shaped cutter – which you can use to press out heart-shaped piece of cheese, veggies, fruit and more.

For our sugar-free Valentine’s Day treats, we used a heart-shaped cutter to create our Lovely Tropical Fruit Kabob, featuring papaya, pineapple, melon and grapes. We also used toothpicks to write secret messages on bananas – an easy-to-do activity that always delights elementary-age students! We cut out low-fat cheese and served it on crackers for a calcium-filled snack. And we took cherry tomatoes, sliced them on a bias, and skewered them together with heart-shaped cucumbers to make Cupid’s Arrow Veggies. Serve up one of the tasty dips we featured last week with veggie crudité and use a slice of red bell pepper to decorate the top with a heart.

More Tasty & Healthy V-Day Ideas

1. We love how Mimi Avocado put her heart-shaped cutter to use – she turned a heart-healthy avocado into Valentine’s hearts!

2. This adorable veggie Valentine’s Day bouquet from Super Healthy Kids gets kids excited about eating their veggies.

3. We love the creativity of School Bites’ “Be-still-my-beating-heart sandwich” which features a heart-shaped peek at lovely raspberry preserves.

4. School Bites also has a simple but great idea for school celebrations: a popcorn party favors in food-safe Valentine’s-themed bags. Adorable!
