11.26.2014 Giving Thanks
“Gratitude is a vaccine, an antitoxin, and an antiseptic.” — John Henry Jowett
As many of us gather around tables across the country to celebrate Thanksgiving this week, we wanted to take a few minutes to give thanks for those we work for and with: the NEA Members and affiliates, the millions of children they serve, the parents and families that nurture those children, and the communities where they live, learn and play.
We are also deeply thankful for the funders, donors and partners that make our work possible, and the coworkers that help us meet every challenge and celebrate each success. Working for a nonprofit organization helps keep gratitude in mind all year-round; as much as we take pride in the work we do, we know we could not accomplish it without others.
Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving, and make sure to make time to unplug, get outside and play. A walk on a favorite trail, a game of tough football or a family obstacle course are all fun ways to work off a bit of stuffing and make room for pie! After all, Thanksgiving comes but once a year.
Now, would somebody please pass the mashed potatoes?
