Using social media to fight cyberbullying

For those of you who don’t believe that your voice can make a difference I urge you to read the following blog about courageous high schoolers who refused to tolerate cyberbullying against their gay peers.  An anonymous Twitter account that targeted the gay community was started and within hours the students responded to the Twitter posts as well as letters to their principal.  They made their stand with a counter Facebook page, Southern Connecticut High Schools: An End to Cyber Bullying!

I know this won’t be the common outcome for bullying situations but being a bystander and being silent is just as bad as bullying.  It’s amazing how simple strategies can have such a huge impact.  Making a stand against bullying doesn’t take much; it really just takes a voice!  Kudos!
