According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, chronic diseases cause 70% of all deaths in the United States (1.7 million a year). This means they are the single largest cause of death. Chronic diseases include heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. These diseases also cause major limitations in daily living for 1 out of 10 people. They are common and costly. Many chronic diseases are also preventable with the adoption, across the lifespan, of health behaviors.
These healthy behaviors include:
- Eating healthy food
- Being physically active
- Avoiding tobacco use – coming soon
