resources have either been recently brought to our attention or were newly released. Inclusion of resources in this section does not constitute an endorsement from the NEA or the NEA HIN. Educators should review the materials to determine their suitability in classroom settings. School Eye Safety Curriculum The Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology is offering a FREE school eye safety curriculum for teachers and students. It includes two lessons: Introducing the Eye and Injuries to the Eye, complete with teacher background materials, and student activities and handouts. A free 25″ by 33″ Anatomy of the Eye classroom poster is available upon request. U neeD 2 KNo This 10 minute video encourages teens who have engaged in risky sexual behavior to be tested for HIV and other STD’s. The video features young people and a physician who specializes in treating adolescents living with HIV. It focuses on who should consider testing, what it is like to get tested, and who teens can call for more information about testing in their area. Developed in association with the Michigan Department of Education, “U neeD 2 Kno” has a fast-paced, contemporary format. It is designed to be used in conjunction with other educational materials that provide basic information about HIV/STD testing and treatment. For more information, call 800/214-8961. AIDS Prevention Guide Developed specifically for parents and other adults concerned about youth, this prevention guide offers basic facts about HIV infection and AIDS, and ways in which to put these facts to use. The easy-to-read sections include Common Questions, Accurate Answers; Talking With Young People About HIV Infection and AIDS; Deciding What to Say to Younger Children; Deciding What to Say to Teenagers; and How to Join the Community Response.
