Gun
Safety Campaign
Educational
professionals are committed to helping keep kids safe. NEA and its
2.6 million members believe that more can be done to ensure the
safety of children in schoolyards and on the Main Streets of America.
The NEA and
the NEA Health Information Network are initiating a new campaign
to address the problem of gun violence in schools and communities.
The Gun Safety Campaign seeks to keep kids and schools safe through
sensible legislation that respects the rights of lawful gun owners
and keeps guns out of the hands of criminals and unsupervised children.
We
know that gun violence is a problem in our communities. And we know
that schools continue to be the safest place for kids. But faced
with statistics that show
nine children die from gun violence every day and at least 35 suffer
from firearm-related injuries, schools can play a leading role in
creating safer communities.
Together, educational
professionals can take
action to help keep kids safe. Join the campaign by emailing
your name and home address to [email protected],
and we will keep you informed of national and state initiatives
to protect children from gun violence.
