For educators it can seem that stress is everywhere. Even positive events can be stressful. Stress can help people achieve peak performance. But too much stress can impair performance and be harmful to health. According to the American Psychological Association 22 percent of Americans report extreme levels of stress.
Educators experience stress for any number of reasons. These include:
- Personal issues
- Isolating work situations
- Lack of administrator support
- Lack of time
- Pressure to perform without resources
While stress can’t be eliminated, responses to it can be managed. Conditions causing stress can be changed.
Managing stress
