School and Community Safety

Schools face a variety of challenges, among them violence, bullying, and natural disasters.   Schools and educators need to be prepared.  The NEA Health Information Network provides resources to schools to help prevent and to respond to these challenges.  Learn more about our crisis response work or go directly to the NEA Health Information Network’s School Crisis Guide On-Line Tool Kit .

  • NEA and HIN will continue to speak for the majority of our members and uphold the position declared by a joint press statement from NEA and AFT following the Sandy Hook shooting in December 2012.
  • The results of a 2013 NEA member poll and other related pieces on this subject are also found here on the NEA website and similar articles, reports and resources are available here
