Can We Talk? – Helping Youth Talk About Healthy Relationships and the Prevention of Teen Pregnancy, HIV, Drug Abuse and Violence.
Parents and other caring family members play a key role in the health education of their children. Ongoing and open family communication about values, healthy relationships, decision-making, and sexual development are important elements to helping children develop into sexually healthy adults.
The NEA Health Information Network has developed Can We Talk?, a program for parents and educators to help them address self-esteem, puberty & sexuality, mixed messages and peer pressure with their late elementary and middle school aged youth.
¿Conversamos? is now available!
NEA HIN is proud to announce the much anticipated release of ¿Conversamos?, a Spanish-language parent-child communication program. ¿Conversamos? is the Spanish-language adaptation of the National Education Association Health Information Network’s (NEA HIN) successful parent-child communication program, Can We Talk? The program is a four-part, interactive workshop series for parents, designed to help them enhance their role in educating their children about difficult topics such as puberty and sexuality, peer-pressure, self-esteem and mixed media messages. Since its release in 1998, thousands of parents in over 50 communities nationwide have participated in the Can We Talk? program. With ¿Conversamos?, NEA HIN hopes to extend the program’s reach to the millions of Spanish-speaking parents in the United States. The ¿Conversamos? package includes the same components as the English version and can be ordered by calling the number listed below.
