FREEVIBE
Youth Anti-Drug Web Site Re-designed
Freevibe
(www.freevibe.com),
a popular youth-oriented drug prevention Web site, has been redesigned
and is now the largest on-line youth-focused drug prevention effort.
The site provides drug facts and information to help young people
understand the real and serious consequences of drug use. The National
Education Association Health Information Network supports Freevibe
and recognizes the site’s value in helping youth make positive,
healthy lifestyle decisions.
The
redesigned site includes a searchable, fact-based drug information
database and pertinent Web links.
Freevibe
encourages empowered decision-making among young people and combines
a number of interactive features with references to teen trends,
lifestyle tips and pop culture.
Jointly
produced through a partnership between the White House Office of
National Drug Control Policy (ONCDP) and Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment,
Freevibe is the flagship Web site for youth outreach as part of
the integrated National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign.
Sections
include specific anti-drug themes such as “Heads Up: Get the
Skinny on Drugs.” This area teaches kids the facts about drugs
and how to say no. Other areas, such as “Hang Time: Time to
Hang Out and Have Some Fun,” incorporate broad teen interests
such as games and entertainment.
The
redesigned site is geared toward kids ages 11-15. Bold, contrasting
colors, photography and content on the site are intended to engage
visitors while offering important information in a fun entertaining
way. In addition to linking directly to the Web site, Sony Pictures
Digital Entertainment will promote Freevibe on a variety of its
sites frequented by teens and tweens.
