At NEA HIN, our efforts are designed to provide the best possible and highest quality health and safety information immediately and with unprecedented ease and access.
“Without the early and sustained leadership of the NEA and its Health Information Network, the impact of HIV/AIDS on young people across our nation would have been far worse than we have witnessed.”

Publications
Our background and expertise in education, health, and safety provides us with a unique and reliable perspective on the needs of educators. NEA HIN offers effective and easy to use resources for educators who have health and safety concerns and little time or resources to devote to them. NEA HIN is responsible for putting together some of the most effective health and safety tools, including The Redbook , The Custodian Guide, and our Stress Resiliency Manual.
Education
NEA HIN has over 20 years of experience creating education campaigns that have influenced public education from sexually transmitted diseases, to school and community safety, to childhood obesity. NEA HIN employs education campaigns built on a “facts not fear” approach to provide the highest quality information directly to the public education and health communities. These include publications such as Can We Talk and our HPV brochure, Talking About Cervical Cancer Prevention, which empower users to make the most educated decisions to stay healthier and safer.
Timely Response to Emerging Issues
The ability for NEA HIN to think through, analyze, and react to a situation is crucial to effectively providing the highest quality information possible accurately and rapidly. Since the inception of the NEA HIN, this health and safety arm of the NEA has effectively disseminated information to our audience that has been paramount in solving complex health and safety issues. In 2008, NEA HIN released its updated version of the School Crisis Guide which remains adaptable to many crisis scenarios. The NEA HIN MRSA Fact Sheet was made available to educators immediately as the outbreak occurred.
Training and Symposiums
Our most powerful resource is education and awareness. NEA HIN’s goal is to disseminate information so that our audience is empowered to act on the lessons they have learned. Through trainings, seminars, and symposiums, our audiences leave sessions with the ability to make and effect decisions that lead to healthier and safer choices in public education. Symposiums like the NEA HIN and EPA Tools for Schools Indoor Air Quality Symposium and the School Crisis Response and Training provide the audience with tools and resources they need to create their own school safety committees in their own communities. After tornadoes devastated Enterprise, Alabama, NEA HIN was there to aid in the recovery process and help the transition back to normalcy.
