Dr. Daniel Taber is a Research Scientist at the Institute for Health Research and Policy (IHRP) at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he specializes in studying the effects of school-based policies on diet, physical activity, and weight status among children. He and his colleagues at IHRP study many different policy and environmental determinants of youth obesity and tobacco use as part of the Bridging the Gap research program. Prior to joining IHRP, Dr. Taber earned his BA from Pomona College in 1999, his MPH in Health Services from the University of Washington in 2005, and his PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010. An avid runner, he has completed 6 marathons, including the 2012 Big Sur International Marathon, and plans to run the Vancouver International Marathon in 2013.
