Julie Abrera is the Director of the School Nutrition
Foundation (SNF), the foundation for the School Nutrition Association. She has been at SNF since 2007. Prior to SNF, Julie spent 10 years doing
development and fundraising for housing related nonprofits. Her arrival in school nutrition comes via a
long family tree of educators and her interest in food from fond memories of
eating perfect tomatoes straight from the garden. Her teaching experience comes not from the
classroom but from teaching tennis to 7 to 70 year olds.
She has an undergraduate degree from James
Madison University and a graduate degree in nonprofit management from Carnegie Mellon
University.
