Plans for the Coming Year
We plan to continue
our success by returning to previous workshop sites and expanding
to new schools. We also plan to expand evaluation efforts with one
and two year follow-up interviews.
Success Stories
The Texas Department
of Health (TDH) has indicated that the Can We Talk? parent program
of the Dallas ISD is exemplary and should serve as a model for other
TDH grantees. In 2001, TDH Title V grantees received Can We Talk?
training.
Evaluation
Progress
On-going evaluation
of pre/post surveys show that parents benefit from the workshops
and feel that they are better able to communicate with their children
concerning tough issues. The return rate of participants from session
one to session four is over 70%.
