Can We Talk?

Step
4:
Make a Budget &
Get Funding

< step 3 | Getting Started | step

Funding parent
education takes time, energy and focus. First set short and long
term goals for Can We Talk? in your community. Then
decide what kind of programming to create in order to meet those
goals. For instance, should more than one Training of Trainers Institute
be held? In multiple counties or regions? At what time of year?
Determine the ideal reach of Can We Talk? in your community,
create a budget, and set out to see if your plan can be supported
by the funding and resources available in the community.

The Coordinator’s
Guide
includes a budget worksheet, fundraising strategies
and sample funding proposals to assist you in your efforts. During
the process of creating your budget and seeking funding for the
Training Institute, NEA HIN can provide you with additional help
for things like a list of recommended trainers and their fees, materials,
and potential contacts in your region. We can also list your event
in our monthly online training calendar.

In your quest
to seek funding for a Can We Talk? program, you will also
need to figure out how much the parent workshops will cost. Use
this sample budget for one workshop series and determine your total
costs.
