HIV
Now Infecting 5 Young People Per Minute |
A new report
issued by the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS)
recently revealed the alarming statistic that, worldwide, five young
people, aged 10 to 24, are infected with the HIV virus each minute.
This results in 7,000 new youth infections every day and 2.6 million
each year. Such staggering new data have prompted UNAIDS to target
young people in its annual World AIDS Day Campaign. This year’s
theme is “Be A Force For Change.” World AIDS Day is December 1 of
every year. For more information on what you can do in your school
and/or community for this year’s World AIDS Day, contact the American
