Spotlight
on NACCHO Resources

THE NATIONAL
ASSOCIATION OF COUNTY & CITY HEALTH OFFICIALS (NACCHO) NACCHO is
a nonprofit membership organization serving all local health departments
nationwide. NACCHO provides education, information, research, and
technical assistance to local health departments and facilitates
partnerships among local, state, and federal agencies to promote
and strengthen public health.

Working with
your local public health agency is often an important step in resolving
IAQ problems. Almost half of all local health agencies address IAQ
issues. Health officials may be able to conduct a health inspection
and provide technical expertise or referrals related to IAQ and/or
occupational exposures. In most cases the health official must be
invited by a school official to inspect a school, with the exception
of pools and food service areas.

To find out
more about services your local health agency (also referred to as
health and human services division, local health department, or
board of health) can provide, contact the health officer or director
of your local health agency. Contact information can be found in
the local government services section of your white pages, by calling
directory information, or through NACCHO’s web site at: http://www.naccho.org/GENERAL8.htm.
