WATER
WORKS
May
4-10, 1997 was National Drinking Water Week; an international
public service campaign to promote water responsible actions.
Its flagship logo is the Blue Thumb, which recognizes and symbolizes
the commitment to care for water – to give drinking water a
hand. Throughout the Week, local groups held events in libraries,
near lakes, in schools, drinking water treatment plants, malls,
and city halls. Groups scheduled river cleanups, hazardous waste
collections, and other pollution fighting efforts.
To find out more about the
Blue Thumb Project, call 800/926-7337 or visit their webpage

other drinking water activities for teachers and students, such
as Build Your Own Aquifer, Build Your Own Water Cycle, and Drinking
Water Education for Kids, call the Office of Water Resource
Center at 202/260-7786 or visit the web at http://www.epa.gov/
